The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has extended warm congratulations to the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, on his appointment as the 1st Vice President of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B.
In a letter dated November 23, 2024, signed by SWAN’s Secretary-General, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo, and endorsed by the association’s President, Mr. Isaiah Benjamin, Gusau was praised for his outstanding leadership and extensive experience in football administration.
“Your latest attainment is a clear testimony of your vision and dedication to grassroots and elite development of football over the years in Nigeria,” the letter read.
SWAN’s President, Mr. Benjamin, highlighted Gusau’s pragmatism and exceptional administrative skills, stating, “You have been and remain pragmatic in your leadership approach. The teeming Nigerian sporting media are optimistic that you will deploy your experience and high-level ability in your new role at WAFU.”
The association expressed its confidence in Gusau’s ability to enhance football development across the WAFU B sub-region and reaffirmed the Nigerian sporting media’s commitment to supporting his efforts.
Gusau’s appointment was announced following the WAFU B leadership election held in Niamey, Niger Republic, on Friday. This achievement marks a significant milestone in his illustrious career in football administration.
“You are sure destined for greater exploits in the nearest future,” Benjamin concluded in the congratulatory message.
SWAN reiterated its belief in Gusau’s capacity to inspire positive change and foster growth in West African football through his new role.
