Governor Uba Sani Opens 2 Million Bank Accounts for Kaduna’s Vulnerable Citizens

By   Milcah   Tanimu

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has launched a new initiative to boost financial inclusion. The program opens two million bank accounts for the state’s poor and underserved citizens. This move highlights his administration’s commitment to a “pro-poor, people-centered” governance model.

The announcement was made during a festive celebration on Thursday at the Umaru Yar’adua Conference Centre in Kaduna. The event included the distribution of food items and palliatives for Christmas and New Year. Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, led the celebration.

“Through our financial inclusion initiative, we have opened over two million bank accounts for the poor, vulnerable, and underserved. This will help them access social intervention programs from both state and federal governments,” Governor Sani stated.

Pro-Poor Initiatives Highlighted

Governor Sani also outlined other initiatives by his administration. These include distributing palliatives and agricultural inputs, as well as providing grants and soft loans to farmers and small businesses.

The governor praised First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for her compassion and impactful social programs. He noted her contributions during her time as Lagos State’s First Lady and as a senator in the 9th National Assembly.

“Her Excellency is a true mother of the nation. Her generosity and care have positively impacted countless lives,” he added.

Promoting Peaceful Coexistence

Governor Sani urged Kaduna citizens to use the holiday season to promote peace in the state. He referenced the Kaduna Peace Model as a benchmark for conflict resolution.

“Our state has made significant progress in recovery. Other conflict-affected states are now looking to replicate our model,” he noted.

The governor concluded by praising President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He described him as a “listening President” dedicated to reducing Nigerians’ hardships through social intervention programs.
