Insecurity: FCT to involve boundary states in security strategy

By Joyce Remi-Babayeju

In a bid to achieve sustainable security in the nation’s capital, the FCT Executive Security Committee has disclosed plans to collaborate with security operatives in other boundary states to checkmate the influx of bandits into the territory.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP, Olatunji Disu, speaking with journalists after the second FCT Security Council Meeting said that to maintain the peace noticed on the FCT, ” We want to involve other security operatives from neighbouring states to monitor bandits who are now moving towards the territory.”

According to Disu, We finally decided that we are going to involve security operatives from bordering states through joint meetings, collaborations and operations to have an outlook on policing in the various states.”

He said, ” We do not want incidents of a particular state embarking on this clearance operation and the insurgents will be moving towards other areas of the nation.”
The CP disclosed that the task force comprising all six security agencies will be engaged in the security strategy to safeguard peace in the territory.
Meanwhile, Disu stated that the FCT security agencies are tackling issues of one chance.
“We have been able to tackle the issue of one chance that was giving us a lot of problems, and as I speak with you, clearance are going on in all the areas of the Federal Capital Territory.”
“Yes, to the residents of the Federal Capital Territory, we are giving you our assurances that the town is safe and there is nothing to be worried about.”
The town is safe and everybody should go about their lawful businesses, he assured.
