Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has lauded Benue Workers over the pivotal role they have played towards uplifting the state to greater heights.
The Governor who gave the commendation at the IBB square, Makurdi during the celebration of workers’ day, stressed that Benue Workers deserve special acknowledgement for the successes they have achieved so far.
He noted that the implementation of the N75,000 national minimum wage, exceeding the Federal Government’s benchmark by N5000, was a way to ameliorate the hardship being experienced by workers in the state and to motivate them to deliver more effective service.
Governor Alia, maintained that the present administration under his watch ensures that retirees from the civil service receive their entitlements without undue delay, adding that this is to restore the dignity of those who have served the state.
The Governor pointed out that the present government in the state has adequately addressed the transportation challenges due to fuel subsidy removal, explaining that his administration has introduced transportation subsidy initiative to reduce the cost of transportation for workers in particular and the public in general.
He implored Civil Servants in the state to always maintain high level of professionalism, assuring that the voices of workers in the state would always play a key role in the present administration’s vision for a greater Benue.
Gov Alia, who emphasized the need for continued collaboration between government and the labour unions in the state, reiterated his commitment to building a Benue that rewards hard work and upholds the dignity of labor.
