Tinubu Approves Full Bonuses, Allowances for Super Falcons Ahead of WAFCON Final

President Bola Tinubu has approved the full payment of allowances and match bonuses for the Super Falcons ahead of their final clash with Morocco in the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The announcement was made on Thursday in Abuja by Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission. He confirmed that all entitlements—covering players, coaches, and officials—up to the July 26 final have already been disbursed for immediate payment.

Dikko hailed the decision as a clear reflection of President Tinubu’s renewed commitment to Nigerian sports and athletes, calling it “policy in motion.” He added that prompt and complete payments would now become the norm, replacing the long-standing delays and controversies surrounding athlete compensation.

The gesture, he said, isn’t limited to football. Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress—set to compete in the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket in Côte d’Ivoire—will also receive enhanced allowances and bonuses as part of the administration’s broader reforms in
