Endorsements Gather Momentum for Governor Alex Otti Ahead of 2027

Recent political events in Abia State have seen a wave of endorsements for the second-term bid of Governor Alex Otti, as support continues to build across key constituencies ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Stakeholders from the Ohuhu clan in Umuahia North Local Government Area have publicly backed the governor, citing what they described as visible improvements in governance and development under his administration. The endorsement came during a gathering attended by political and community leaders from the area.

Speaking at the event, Obi Aguocha, who represents Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, said the visit was to appreciate the governor’s engagement with the community and his development initiatives. He also acknowledged appointments of indigenes of Ohuhu into federal and state positions.

Prominent figures present included former Niger Delta Development Commission chairman Onyema Ugochukwu and the member representing Umuahia North State Constituency, Anderson Akaliro. In a related development, leaders of the Ukwa La Ngwa ethnic group announced a ₦100 million pledge towards the purchase of the governor’s nomination form. The pledge was unveiled during a civic reception held at Enyimba International Stadium.

Addressing supporters at the event, Governor Otti thanked them for their endorsement and assured residents that his administration would continue to prioritise public interest over partisan considerations.

As political activities gradually intensify in Abia State, these endorsements signal growing grassroots support for the incumbent, even as opposition groups prepare for the 2027 contest.
