Zone 13 has taken an early lead in the cricket event at the 15th Biennial Nigeria Police Games (BIPOGA) Asaba 2026, recording three victories to top the medals table.
Zone 10 currently occupies second position with two wins from the matches played so far.
In one of the key encounters, Zone 13 defeated Zone 10 with a 28–22 run margin. Zone 2 also edged past Zone 8, recording 39 runs to 36. Force Headquarters fell to Zone 13 in another fixture, losing 27–25, while Zone 10 secured a 30–16 victory over Zone 8.
Zone 2 later lost narrowly to Zone 13, posting 29 runs against Zone 13’s 30. However, they bounced back against Zone 10, scoring 18–12. Zone 10 also recorded a 23–18 win over Force Headquarters.
Observers noted that Force Headquarters’ representatives showed determination but will need improved performances in subsequent matches to contend strongly.
Shooting Event Holds in Ogwashi-Uku
Meanwhile, the shooting event of the 15th Biennial Nigeria Police Games is underway in Ogwashi-Uku, near Asaba.
The has notified residents and the general public that the competition is taking place at the Base 31 Police Mobile Force Shooting Range along Kwale Road.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, all safety and operational measures have been put in place, urging residents not to panic at the sound of gunfire as it is part of controlled sporting activities within the designated range.
The event, scheduled from February 15 to February 19, 2026, runs daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Access to areas around the range will be temporarily restricted during this period, and residents as well as road users have been advised to comply with safety and traffic directives.
The Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safety and professionalism and thanked residents for their understanding and cooperation throughout the duration of the games.
