Manchester United edged Everton 1–0 at Hill Dickinson Stadium in a tightly fought Premier League clash, with a single second-half strike proving decisive despite the hosts’ spirited display.
The opening half was finely balanced. Amad Diallo tested Jordan Pickford early with a sharp effort, while Idrissa Gueye attempted to respond from range for Everton. James Garner’s set-piece deliveries caused moments of concern, but United’s defence held firm under pressure.
Everton stepped up their intensity after the restart. Michael Keane nearly broke the deadlock with a thunderous effort that forced an outstanding save from goalkeeper Senne Lammens. However, United gradually grew into the contest, looking increasingly threatening following tactical tweaks in attack.
The breakthrough came in the 71st minute. Bryan Mbeumo sparked the move with a perfectly weighted through ball to Benjamin Sesko, who calmly slotted his finish into the bottom-right corner beyond Pickford to hand United the advantage.
Everton responded with urgency, committing numbers forward and swinging dangerous crosses into the area through Garner and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Tyrique George also challenged Lammens late on, but the visitors remained composed. A nervy finale saw several bookings as tensions flared, before the referee’s whistle confirmed United’s hard-earned victory after seven minutes of added time.
Man of the Match: Casemiro
Casemiro delivered a commanding midfield performance, dictating the tempo, breaking up Everton’s attacking moves, and offering vital defensive protection. His experience and composure were central to securing all three points for United.
