The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, has approved the confirmation of appointment of 1,659 staff of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
The workers whose appointments were confirmed were among the 2,281 candidates who sat for the confirmation examination conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission on February 28, 2026.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, the Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, disclosed that some of the workers who participated in the exercise were employed as far back as 2016 and 2019.
Ezeh explained that 2,512 candidates were invited to present themselves for the confirmation examination, but only 2,281 candidates turned up.
According to him, 224 officers were absent from the exercise, raising suspicion that they could be ghost workers.
He further noted that while some of the workers who sat for the examination were employed as far back as 2016 and 2019, others were employed shortly before the appointment of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, in August 2023.
Meanwhile, the FCT Civil Service Commission has concluded plans to conduct both the 2025 and 2026 promotion exercises, as approved by the minister, in line with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Candidates have therefore been advised to visit the commission’s website, www.fctcsc.abj.gov.ng, to check the status of their names.
