The family of a 14-year-old boy, Delight Ejiofor, has petitioned the Katsina State Police Command over his disappearance, alleging concerns about the handling of the case. The boy’s guardian, Mr. James Olinya, through his lawyer, submitted a petition to the Commissioner of Police, expressing dissatisfaction with the investigation by the state Criminal Investigation Department’s anti-kidnapping unit.
According to the petition, Ejiofor went missing in November 2025 while living with his guardian in Malumfashi, Katsina State. The case was initially reported to the Malumfashi Police Division before being transferred to the anti-kidnapping unit for further investigation.
The petition, filed by Barrister Agba Vanger & Associates, also referenced an individual identified as Abubakar, also known as “Ina Emir,” who was previously questioned by the police. The lawyer alleged that the suspect made statements suggesting knowledge of the boy’s whereabouts and was granted bail pending further investigation.
The family has raised concerns that the suspect is no longer in custody and is reportedly moving freely, while the whereabouts of the missing boy remain unknown. Speaking through his wife, Olinya appealed to authorities to intensify efforts to locate the child and ensure a thorough investigation. Police authorities have yet to publicly respond to the latest petition.
