Nasarawa Assembly passes 2 bills into second reading, receives report on supplementary budget

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has passed into second reading a Bill for a Law to Regulate the Operation of Commercial Motor Cycles and Tricycles and Other Related Matters in Nasarawa State.

The House also passed for Second reading a Bill for a Law to Establish Nasarawa State Sports Development Fund and for Other Matters Connected Therewith. 

Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the Speaker of the House announced the passage of the two bill into second reading after Hon Tanko Tunga, the Majority leader of the House moved a motion for the two bills to scale second reading during the House proceedings in Lafia today.
Balarabe Abdullahi said that the two Bill’s  if passed into law will regulate the activities of  commercial motor cycles and tricylces in the state as well as would boost sports development in the state.

” A Bill for a Law to Regulate the Operation of Commercial Motor Cycles and Tricycles and Other Related Matters in Nasarawa State scale second reading and I therefore commit the bill to the House committee on Works and Transport to work on it and report back to the House on 8th February,  2020.
” A  Bill for a Law to Establish Nasarawa State Sports Developmemt Fund and for Other Matters Connected Therewith passes second reading and I commit the bill to the House Committee on Youth and Sports to work on it and submit report to the House on February 9th  2020,” the speaker said. 

Earlier, Hon Tanko Tunga, the majority leader of the House while giving the substance of the Bill for a Law to Regulate the Operation of Commercial Motor Cycles and Tricycles and Others Related Matters in Nasarawa State said that the bill if finally passed into law would regulate the activities of motor cycles and tricycles operators in the state
Tunga said that a Bill for a Law to Establish Nasarawa State Sports Developmemt Fund and for Other Matters Connected Therewith was to promote sports development in the state if finally passed into law.

Hon Danladi Jatau, the Minority Leader of the House seconded the motion for the two bills to scale second reading.
He said that the bills would boost development across the state.
The House unanimously passed the the two bills into second reading.
Meantime,  the House also received  N20.2billion 2020 supplementary budget report from the House committee on Finance and Appropriation.

Hon Mohammed Okpoku, the Acting Chairman of the Committee presented the committee’s reports to the House.
Okpoku said that the supplementary Appropriation bill was necessary due to the effects of COVID19 pandemic on the economy.
