Must read

The leadership of the Akwa-Ibom chapter of Movement for the Survival of Izon Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta(MOSIEND), has appealed to multinationals oil companies operating in the state to create modalities for meeting youths unemployment challenges, rather than fueling crisis with their divide and rule strategy.
The group which lauded the State Governor, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, for the ground breaking of a gas and fertilizer plant in Eastern Obolo LGA, task the company in charge to see it as an opportunity to create better jobs for indigenes and not another ploy to enslave the people.
Speaking with our correspondent after the occasion in Okoroinyong, the National Deputy Organizing Secretary of MOSIEND, Hon Dimieari Pepple, expressed happiness and said that the project will provide employment to the teeming youths who are wallowing in the labour market.

Pepple appreciated the governor for creating a peaceful and harmonious environment for multinational companies and foreign investors such as Sterling Global whose significant operational base is Eastern Obolo LGA of Akwa Ibom State.

Meanwhile the group took a wipe at Sterling Global for its alleged habitual behaviour of divide-and-rule.

According to Plan, “this has been its mode of operation in Bayelsa and Delta States. The company is highly noted for violation of Nigeria Local Content Law and other operational laws”

He also noted that with the core mandate of the group on creating jobs for over ten thousand youths in the region, the group has set up a committee of cooperate management experts to engage the companies in a bid to making them live up to the expectations of the people.

He also warned that the group will not leave anything to chance in its bid to correct the ugly trend notable of the company.

However, it is our belief that the good intention of the governor in bringing development to Akwa Ibom will not be twarted by the company.

MOSIEND also condemned the recent killings and burning of Police stations in Akwa Ibom State. We will continue to stand by the government of Akwa Ibom state under His Excellency, Deacon Udom Emmanuel in his efforts in tackling security challenges and maintenance of peace.

We enjoin all Akwa Ibom youths to preserve the peace the state is noted for since the present administration came to power and support him to sustain it.

We are not Biafran, we are Nigerians and believe in one Nigeria with true federal structure as enshrined in 1963 constitution. The peace and development we enjoy today in the state is as a result of good governance by His Excellency, Udom Emmanuel.

“We want to particularly praise Governor Emmanuel Udom for his commitment towards the industrialization of Akwa Ibom State. It gladdens our heart to be witness to the groundbreaking of this gigantic project and we consider it a very big strides by the governor to create jobs for thousands of our unemployed youths. This is not the only project he has established in the state.

“Look at the Coconut industry sited in Eastern Obolo LGA were so many youths have been employed. Also, the Tomatoes industry has made tomato not to be scarce. The Syringe industry has also created so many jobs by accommodating many people. And now the gas and fertilizer plant to be sited in Eastern Obolo LGA.” He said.
