Governor Samuel Ortom has directed all his appointees seeking elective positions in the 2023 general elections to resign latest 1st October, 2021.
The Governor who gave this indication at the Government House Makurdi on Thursday when members of the Jemgbagh Unity Forum paid a solidarity visit to him, pointed out that the decision became necessary to enable aspirants prepare ahead of time.
Ortom urged the People’s Democratic party, PDP, faithful to join him in shopping for a candidate who has qualities and tenacity to succeed him.
The Governor assured that he would back any transparent process that could guarantee the emergence of credible and acceptable candidates of the party during the forthcoming polls.
Ortom applauded the PDP Unity Forum over their visit, averrig that he was encouraged by their show of solidarity, support and goodwill he enjoined from them over the years.
In his remarks, the President of the forum, Mr Yandev Amaabai, described Governor Ortom as the defender of the Benue valley, adding that he has come at the time the state was facing daunting challenges, particularly insecurity. Ends
