Barcelona Football Club has officially confirmed the acquisition of Victor Roque from Club Athletico Paranaense in a €30 million deal, with potential add-ons that could elevate the total cost to €61 million. The add-ons are contingent upon Roque’s performances, goal achievements, and titles won by both the player and the club. The 18-year-old talent has inked a contract that will keep him at Barcelona until the 2030-31 season.
Roque, widely regarded as one of Brazil’s most promising prospects, will join Barcelona’s ranks in 2024. The club has disclosed that he carries a hefty buyout clause of €500 million, reflecting their belief in his immense potential.
Having notably emerged as a standout player, Roque was the joint top scorer, alongside compatriot Andrey Santos, at the 2023 U-20 Copa America Championship, where Brazil claimed their 12th title. In the current Brazilian Série A season, he has already found the net seven times, further cementing his reputation as a rising star.
Barcelona’s acquisition of Roque comes as a boost to their squad, following their failure to secure the services of Arda Guler, who recently joined rivals Real Madrid.
