Benue Assembly approves N20.682bn as 2020 Supplementary budget

By Isaac Kertyo Makurdi

Benue State House of Assembly has approved passage of the 2020 Supplementary budget of N20.682 billion.
The supplementary appropriation bill was passed at plenary after due consideration of the bill by a committee headed by the Speaker of the house, Hon Titus Uba.

Hon. Peter Enemari, Chairman of the committee on appropriation while leading debate on the bill, explained that the supplementary appropriation became necessary due to the inability of some Ministries, departments and agencies, MDAs, to expend some of their estimates largely due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Enemari further pointed out that some of the MDAs exceeded their budgetary provisions due to subheads.

Relatedly, the house approved N82.6 billion as supplementary recurrent expenditure while the approved supplementary capital expenditure stood at N26.2 billion.
