Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has approved the appointment of Prince Adesuyi Haastrup as the new Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijeshaland. Additionally, Prince Johnson Adekanmi Abikoye has been named the Asaoni of Ora Igbomina.
This was disclosed in a statement on Friday by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi. According to the statement, the appointments were ratified during the Osun State Executive Council meeting, presided over by Governor Adeleke in Osogbo.
Prince Haastrup’s emergence followed his selection by the Bilaro Oluodo Ruling House, where he secured a majority vote during the kingmakers’ meeting held at the Ilesa West Local Government Secretariat.
The commissioner noted that Prince Haastrup’s appointment comes after the passing of the former Owa Obokun, Oba (Dr.) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, who died on September 11, 2024. Similarly, Prince Abikoye’s appointment follows the demise of Oba Tinuoye Atolagbe, the former Asaoni of Ora Igbomina, who passed away on November 19, 2023.
Governor Adeleke congratulated the newly approved monarchs and urged the people of Ijeshaland and Ora Igbomina to support their traditional rulers in fostering peace and unity.
