Ahead of this Friday’s final of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup, it has now been confirmed that both finalists, Orlando Pirates of South Africa and RSB Berkane of Morocco would arrive Uyo, venue of the epochal match on Wednesday.

General Coordinator of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the final and who is also the Senior Special Assistant to Akwa Ibom Governor on Sports, Mr Paul Bassey, gave the confirmation in a chat with newsmen Tuesday, in Uyo.

“The LOC has established contact with the camps of both teams and I can confirm that the teams will be arriving Uyo tomorrow.” Bassey said.

The Coordinator also confirmed that kick-off for the eagerly-anticipated final has been fixed for eight o’clock in the evening.

“As per the directive from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), I can confirm to you that kick-off for the match is at 8:00pm and we at the LOC are perfectly poised to make it a memorable occasion that the entirety of Africa will be proud of.” He added.

Pirates will be seeking a second success in African football after winning the Champions League in 1995 while Berkane, who are the defending champions of the Confederation Cup, would be making a third appearance in the final when proceedings get underway in Uyo on Friday.

Meanwhile a tripartite security meeting for CAF-NFF-LOC would hold today at the Nest of Champions, venue of the match where the pitch has been described by FIFA Pitch Consultant Jorge as perfect for a good game of football.

This is even as CAF has said that Ghana Football Association President, Kurt Okraku and his counterparts from Togo Antoine Folly, Cote D’Ivoire, Idriss Diallo and Benin Republic, Moucharafou Anjorin are expected as special guests at the final.

The match would be the Soweto Giants’ (Pirates) first ever encounter with “The Orange Boys” (RSB Berkane), with both teams seeking their second major continental title.
