As insecurity situation grew worse, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Kaduna state chapter has called on Federal and State government to take drastic measures against the perpetrators rather than the usual issuance of press statement.
CAN also observed that lousiness of Governor Nasir El-rufai led government was responsible for putting the state in pains of kidnapping and killings by the bandits on regular basis.
The state Chairman of CAN Rev. Joseph John Hayap made the assertions in Kaduna on Sunday evening while addressing gathering of Christians and Christian leaders at the special prayer organised for Kaduna and Nigeria over rising the insecurity.
“Speak responsibly. The governor is causing a lot of pains in the state. The state will be heal the day the governor begins to speak responsibly. The bandits are hearing him and saying they’ll deal with Kaduna because he said he’ll not negotiate with them”, he said.
He said El-rufai is too lousy adding that there is no where in the Constitution that gave the governor the right to speak lousy.
“What is the need for Governor to come to the media all the time and be telling them the number of persons killed on daily basis, 30, 19, and even list their names. Is that Governance?”, he quarried.
According to the chairman, Kaduna people are not interested in press statement “they are interested in action. We love the government but we are not happy that they are not doing the right thing.
“Nigeria is in serious mess but our leaders don’t want to hear it, they want the contrary. They want praise singers”, he lamented.
He also stated that he has nothing personal against Dr Mahmud Gumi’ on his opinion but would never agreed with him for referring to the bandits as militants, saying “a criminal should be called a criminal, and “we should call a spade a spade.
Hayap recount the recent incidents of Kidnapped intensified by bandits in the state as a result of the governors stands especially that of redeemed church members and the abducted 39 students still in bushes, and quarried if he’ll be able to sleep if the children are El-Rufai’s own.
He recalled that Governor el-rufai had earlier paid compensation to foreign Fulani during his first tenure in office, but now saying he cannot negotiate with bandits.
During the session, the church mandated Pastors to pray for release of all kidnapped victims, for the churches, Kaduna state, Nigeria, leaders, security agencies and others.
Revs. Elijah Abubakar, Emmanuel Daudu, Ayuba Shekwolo served as moderators among other prominent Revs and pastors, while Hon. Maria Dogo, and other church members from churches in Mando, Kakuri, Television, ECWA DCC Speaker also attended the special prayer, promised to be sustained until insecurity is over.
