Funke Akindele Predicts ₦5 Billion Box Office Success for *Everybody Loves Jenifa*

By Abigail Philip David

Renowned Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele, popularly known as the “Box Office Queen,” has set an ambitious target for her upcoming film, *Everybody Loves Jenifa*. The movie, slated for release in cinemas on December 13, 2024, is expected to generate ₦5 billion in ticket sales.

Akindele, whose 2023 blockbuster *A Tribe Called Judah* grossed over ₦1 billion despite facing piracy challenges, shared her optimism during an Exhibitor Soirée at Film House Cinemas on November 20, 2024. “We can beat ₦5 billion, I have faith,” she declared.

Battling Piracy and Ensuring Success

Reflecting on the challenges with *A Tribe Called Judah*, which suffered from online leaks, Akindele made a heartfelt plea to cinema administrators and audiences to ensure the security of her new film. She urged vigilance against unauthorized recordings during screenings.

“I know things are hard now, but I plead with everyone to be security-conscious. Last year, *A Tribe Called Judah* was pirated, and we lost significant revenue. Please, protect this film for me. No phones, no recordings. Let’s ensure we all benefit from the movie’s success,” Akindele said.

Star-Studded Cast

*Everybody Loves Jenifa* features an impressive ensemble cast. Funke Akindele reprises her iconic role as Jenifa, alongside Folarin “Falz” Falana as Sege. The movie also stars Jackie Appiah, Nancy Isime, Stan Nze, Bisola Aiyeola, Patience Ozokwor, Chimezie Imo, and Isaac Olayiwola (Layi Wasabi).

Grand Marketing Strategy

Known for her innovative marketing techniques, Akindele has been promoting *Everybody Loves Jenifa* months ahead of its release. Industry stakeholders believe the movie’s relatable storyline, comedic charm, and stellar cast will make it another major hit for the filmmaker.

With her track record and determination, all eyes are on Funke Akindele to see if *Everybody Loves Jenifa* will set a new box office record for Nollywood.
