The Kaduna Region of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has achieved a significant milestone with the delivery of four high-capacity power transformers to critical substations in Kaduna State.
On Monday, March 2, 2026, the Jaja Transmission Substation in Kudan Local Government Area received two 150MVA 330/132/33kV power transformers. Simultaneously, the Jaji Substation in Igabi Local Government Area took delivery of two 66MVA 132/33kV power transformers.
Funding and Strategic Importance
These substation projects are funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and are strategically designed to enhance power supply reliability while expanding transmission capacity across the North-West region.
The projects have reached an advanced stage, generating optimism among TCN officials and community stakeholders. Upon completion, the Jaja 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation will be linked to the 330kV Kano Transmission Line. This critical connection is expected to:
- Significantly reinforce transmission capacity in the region.
- Reduce the frequency of power outages.
- Improve voltage stability for industrial and domestic users.
Regional Impact
The new infrastructure will ensure a more reliable bulk electricity supply to distribution load centers. This development is set to directly benefit electricity customers across Kano State and neighboring areas, providing the necessary energy stability to drive local economic growth and improve the quality of life for residents.
