Manchester United Joins Race for Victor Boniface

By  Milcah   Tanimu

Manchester United has entered the race to sign Victor Boniface, Bayer Leverkusen’s standout Nigerian striker. This development sets the stage for a competitive transfer battle with Chelsea.

Since arriving at Leverkusen in the summer of 2023, Boniface has showcased exceptional talent. In his debut season, he scored 21 goals and provided 10 assists across 34 appearances, playing a vital role in Leverkusen’s Bundesliga victory that ended Bayern Munich’s dominance. His strong form has continued into the current season, where he has already netted seven goals and contributed five assists in just eight league matches. He also made an impact in the UEFA Champions League, scoring against AC Milan.

Reports from Fichajes indicate that Manchester United and Chelsea are both willing to compete for Boniface, with his potential transfer fee estimated between €60 million and €80 million.

Despite recently signing young strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, United seeks to enhance their attacking options. They view Boniface as a player who could significantly strengthen their front line. Meanwhile, Chelsea continues its search for a world-class striker, and Boniface fits their strategy of acquiring top young talent.

Boniface’s contract with Leverkusen extends until the summer of 2028, giving the club a strong negotiating advantage. The striker seems focused on his current performances, showing no immediate desire to leave.

As the January transfer window approaches, attention turns to the future of the promising Nigerian international, with Manchester United and Chelsea poised to make their moves for one of Europe’s most exciting young talents.
