Manchester United have revived their pursuit of Bayern Munich full-back Noussair Mazraoui after his potential move to West Ham United fell through, a source told ESPN.
Mazraoui was close to securing a £15 million transfer to West Ham, but negotiations collapsed at the last minute.
With West Ham now shifting their focus to United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Manchester United have resumed discussions with Bayern Munich for Mazraoui. Manager Erik ten Hag is eager to bolster both full-back positions but needs to raise funds by selling players first.
According to a source, United initially priced Wan-Bissaka at around £20 million, leading Turkish club Galatasaray to withdraw their interest. The revised asking price is now approximately £15 million.
Wan-Bissaka, who has one year remaining on his contract at Old Trafford, is currently with the United squad on their preseason tour in the United States.
Ten Hag also faces challenges at the left-back position, with Tyrell Malacia sidelined by a knee injury. Malacia, who hasn’t played in over a year, was left out of the squad traveling to Los Angeles and continues his recovery at the Carrington training facility.
Mazraoui, 26, previously played under Ten Hag during their time at Ajax. The proposed deal between Bayern and West Ham would have seen the Premier League club pay £12.6 million upfront with an additional £2.3 million in potential add-ons.
