Moreirense vs Sporting: Primeira Liga Upset

Moreirense secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Sporting Lisbon in the Primeira Liga on December 5, 2024, at Parque de Jogos Comendador Joaquim de Almeida Freitas. Sporting’s Viktor Gyökeres opened the scoring with a penalty in the 12th minute. However, Moreirense’s Dinis Pinto equalized in the 19th minute, and Guilherme Schettine sealed the win with a goal in the 35th minute.

Despite Sporting leading the league with a remarkable goal difference of +33, this match showcased Moreirense’s resilience. The result places Moreirense in the eighth spot, while Sporting maintains its position at the top of the standings despite the setback
