Newcastle Enters Race to Sign Victor Osimhen with £113m Release Clause

Newcastle United has joined the competition to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen in 2025, with owners Public Investment Fund reportedly ready to activate his £113 million release clause. According to *Chronicle Live*, Newcastle is among several clubs considering a bid for the 25-year-old forward, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli.

Since his loan to Galatasaray in September, Osimhen has scored eight goals in nine matches across all competitions, including six goals in six Turkish Super Lig games. His latest performance saw him score twice in Galatasaray’s 3-2 victory over Samsunspor, keeping the club unbeaten and leading the Turkish league by six points.

Roma’s Jose Mourinho has praised Osimhen, calling him a player worth a major investment. This endorsement has reportedly motivated Fenerbahce to consider a bid that exceeds Galatasaray’s proposed €50 million transfer fee. Napoli Sporting Director Giovanni Manna, however, has set a minimum asking price of €75 million for interested clubs.

Newcastle’s interest in Osimhen follows a quiet summer transfer window, with manager Eddie Howe looking to strengthen his attacking lineup. Fans are eager to see a potential Osimhen-Isak partnership, although St. James’ Park may face challenges with profit and sustainability regulations for any high-cost acquisition.

Other clubs, including Chelsea and several teams in the Saudi Pro League, are also eyeing the Nigerian star after unsuccessful bids last summer. Meanwhile, Fenerbahce Vice President Acun Ilıcalı has downplayed a possible pursuit of Osimhen, referencing the club’s existing forward lineup with players like Edin Dzeko and Youssef En-Nesyri.
