……. warns against truancy

Governor Ahmad Aliyu has sworn in the newly elected local government council chairmen, urging them to remain within their jurisdictions.

Gov. Aliyu cautioned the chairmen to be accessible to their constituents, stressing that the government would not tolerate inaccessibility, indolence, or laxity in their duties.

“Gone are the days when local government chairmen would abandon their domains for hotel rooms. Any chairman found violating these directives will face strict consequences,” he warned.

The governor also instructed the newly sworn-in chairmen to hold regular meetings with relevant security agencies in their local government areas to address ongoing security challenges effectively.

“Remember that tackling security challenges is one of our 9-point SMART Agenda priorities, so give security all the attention it requires,” he added.

Gov. Aliyu reiterated his administration’s commitment to securing the state and called for continued community support and prayers from all residents.

The governor further directed the chairmen to immediately comply with the Code of Conduct laws. He also encouraged them to find innovative ways to improve their internally generated revenue to meet the expectations of their communities.

Dr. Aliyu warned the chairmen against misappropriating public funds, emphasizing that there must be zero tolerance for corruption in all local government areas of the state.

Gov. Aliyu appealed to the people of Sokoto State to continue offering fervent prayers for Allah’s guidance and protection for the current administration.

Earlier, the State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Ibrahim Dadi Adare, assured that the Ministry would organize an induction course for the newly sworn-in chairmen to familiarize them with the operations of the local government councils.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by APC leader in the state, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Idris Muhammad Gobir, Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Tukur Bala, Deputy Speaker, Kabir Ibrahim Kware, and lawmakers from the national and state assemblies.

Also in attendance were former Deputy Governors of Sokoto and Zamfara States, Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo, Mukhtar Shehu Shagari, and Hassan Nasiha, Secretary to the State Government, Muhammad Bello Sifawa, Chief of Staff to the Sokoto State Government, Aminu Haliru Dikko, a representative of the Sultan, Aliyu Attahiru, as well as commissioners, special advisers, and other dignitaries.
