The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, has charged 137 newly graduated officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and discipline in the execution of their security duties.

Speaking at the Passing Out Parade for the Batch B Basic Arms Training on Tuesday at the FCT Command Headquarters in Abuja, Odumosu emphasized the critical importance of adhering to the rules of engagement while performing their responsibilities.

He urged the officers to remain vigilant, disciplined, and focused as they begin their assignments to protect lives, property, and critical national infrastructure across the FCT.

“As you are deployed to your various assignments today, do not abandon the values and training you’ve received. Always give your best, work smart, and think smart,” Odumosu advised.

He further stressed the need for professionalism in handling firearms, reminding them to prioritize safety at all times. “In carrying out your legitimate duties, always observe the rules of engagement. Be professional in handling your rifles—protect yourself, your weapons, and the lives and property entrusted to your care.”

Odumosu assured the officers that their rigorous training had equipped them with the competence and resilience needed to address security challenges effectively.

Highlighting their critical role in supporting the NSCDC’s fight against vandalism, illegal mining, theft of public infrastructure, and other crimes, Odumosu reminded the officers, “To whom much is given, much is expected.”

He also commended the instructors for their dedication and expertise in preparing the officers for their new roles, acknowledging their contribution to shaping the trainees’ skills and instilling core values.

Odumosu expressed gratitude to the NSCDC Commandant-General, Dr. Ahmed Audi, and the Minister of the FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, for their leadership and support in strengthening the Command’s operational capacity.

He reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to its mandate of safeguarding lives and critical infrastructure, assuring the public that the Corps will continue to prioritize the safety and security of the FCT.

The 137 graduating officers are part of the Command’s broader initiative to boost operational efficiency. Since October 2024, a total of 272 officers have undergone retraining under the Batch A and B programs.
