Nigerian right-back Ola Aina is poised for a comeback to the Premier League this summer, following his departure from Italian Serie A club Torino.

The 26-year-old footballer, who began his career at Chelsea academy, had been on loan at Torino starting from August 14, 2018, before the club exercised their option to purchase him permanently on July 1, 2019, for a transfer fee of €9.80 million.

However, similar to his time at Chelsea, Aina struggled to establish himself at the Italian club. Consequently, he embarked on a loan spell with Fulham from 2020 to 2021 to gain more playing time.

When Aina’s contract with Torino came to an end on July 1, 2023, the club decided not to renew his deal, deeming him surplus to requirements. Consequently, he has been without a club since then.

Nonetheless, Ola Aina’s fortunes are about to change, as he prepares to make a permanent move back to the Premier League. According to renowned Italian transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, the Nigerian defender is on the verge of signing with Nottingham Forest on a permanent contract. If all goes well, Aina is expected to remain at the club until June 2026.

The potential contract with Nottingham Forest is reported to be for two years, with an option for a one-year extension. This exciting development presents an opportunity for Aina to reignite his career in England’s top-flight football and continue showcasing his talent.

Having earned 30 caps for the Nigerian national team since his international debut on October 7, 2017, Aina’s return to the Premier League could also bolster his prospects at the international level.

Fans eagerly await the official confirmation of the deal, as Ola Aina prepares to embark on a fresh chapter in his football journey with Nottingham Forest.
