Plateau state government on thursday said all is set to commence the fencing of the jos wildlife park . The general manager of the plateau state tourism corporation, chuwang pwajok in a message obtained by our correspondent reads that “We are glad to announce the successful signing of contracts awarded to three contractors (rrc construction nigeria ltd, seven west construction, and lashgdom nigeria ltd) who will handle the perimeter fencing of jos wildlife park totaling 16.7 kilometers, expected to be completed in ten months”.
He added that ” the contract signing ceremony, held at the plateau state acresal project office in jos yesterday, was attended by stakeholders and representatives of the contracting companies.”
According to the general manger ” the fencing project aims to prevent human-wildlife conflict, illegal encroachments, illegal mining, and unauthorized felling of trees, as well as ensure the sustainable conservation of the protected area.”
It could be recalled that there was anxiety within dong community in jos north local government area of plateau state on monday following the escape of a hyena at the wildlife park.
The hyena escaped from its confinement at the park located in the community thereby causing panic among residents of dong and the neighbouring state and federal low-cost estates.
