Plateau police command arrest 5 kidnappers, criminals

Plateau Police command on Monday paraded five kidnappers and other criminals who have been operating in the state.

The command further said it recently recovered one hundred and fifteen rustled cows.
Commissioner of Police in Plateau state CP Austin Agbonlahor who addressed newsmen in Jos said: ” The Command is successfully tackling cases of Kidnapping, Armed Robbery, and Cattle Rustling “. “In all the cases of kidnapping, the Command rescued the victims without paying any ransom and arrested some suspects who perpetrated the acts. “The recent operation of the Command with the assistance of the IGP STS which led to the rescue of HRH Engr. David Isah Dongbam, the paramount ruler of Dorock Kingdom of Shendam L.G.A on 24/11/2018 in perfect health condition and without payment of ransom is still fresh in our minds.”

He said “On the 23/10/2018 at about 2330hrs a case of Criminal Conspiracy and Kidnapping was received by the Command from Aminu Hamisu of Angwan Rogo, Jos that on the same date at about 1702hrs an anonymous caller with phone number 0708433596 called him that he kidnapped his son, Aliyu Aminu aged 6 years old and the kidnappers warned him not to inform the Police else his son will be killed. The suspected kidnappers also demanded a ransom of twelve million naira (N12, 000,000) to secure the victim’s release.
On receipt of the report, our operatives swung into action and that led to the arrest of the suspected kidnappers; Abba Sa’eed, Kabiru Sabitu and Abdullahi Kabiru who have confessed to the commission of the crime. The three suspects shall be charged to court soonest.”

On 18/11/2018 at about 0630hrs Umaru Ardo of Kampani Zurak Village of Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State reported to the Police that on 16/11/2018 at about 0100hrs, some armed men numbering about four came to his house at the above address and abducted his wife and daughter namely; Adama Umaru 56yrs and Rabiat Umaru age 16yrs both of the same address. On the receipt of the report, our detectives swung into action, mobilised to the Komboloro bush where the suspects were tracked to have taken the victims to and in the process, the two victims were rescued unhurt without payment of any ransom. Two suspects were arrested there too; Mohammad Sanni Umar 20yrs old and Ibrahim Alhaji Ardo Boderi 22yrs old. The investigation is in progress to unravel the motive behind the crime. Suspects shall be charged to court as soon as the investigation is over.

Agbonlahor also said ” Acting on credible information received from Mallam Abdullahi Yusuf of Jos South L.G.A that one Hundred and Fifteen (115) cows belonging to Ibrahim Suleiman aged 33yrs old of Sabo Gida- Karnar were rustled by five armed men, Police patrol team swiftly mobilized and informed security personnel in other check-points within that axis to watch out for suspects in the crime. The combined efforts led to the recovery of all the rustled cows while the rustlers fled when they noticed security personnel were closing in on them. The recovered cows have since been handed over to the owner while the effort is being intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

Also On 14 /11 /2018 at about 2230hrs, Mrs. Laraba, the owner of Discussion Continue Bar Janta Adamu, Jos reported that seven armed robbers stormed her place of business, robbed her customers of their phones and other valuables. Reacting on the tip-off, our detectives arrested the following suspects; Daniel Amabu, David Michael, Aron Kassin, Agan Christopher, Emmanuel Gabriel, James Adamu Samuel all of the various addresses. Items recovered from the suspects included; Seven ) Handset of different make, a wallet belonging to a retired Major General containing; a Visa Card, Driving License, First Bank ATM Card, Passport photographs and complimentary cards. The investigation is on to arrest more members of the gang

He further said that ” The Command learned the upsurge of crime in the state is as a result of the negative drive by some criminally minded individuals who are bent on celebrating the forthcoming festivities in style to the detriment of their victims.”
” I, therefore, call on members of the public to be more security conscious and report suspicious movements around them to the Police.”

” Vehicle owners are called upon to apply minimum security on their vehicles with the aid of Pedal and Steering Locks in addition to the Tracking Devices that some may have.”
” I call on all political parties and politicians to play politics by the rules of the game with the assurance that adequate security will be provided at all campaign venues. As such, No hate speeches will be tolerated by the Command, campaigns should be issue based.
“No one should accept to be used as a thug.”,”Parents/Guidance should monitor activates of their children and ward.
“Let us eschew violence before, during and after the forthcoming elections, the CP added.
