Manchester City midfielder Rodri has named his personal “Greatest of All Time” (GOAT), and surprisingly, it’s not Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. During an interview at the PFA Awards on August 20, Rodri declared his Manchester City teammate, Kevin De Bruyne, as the GOAT. The 33-year-old Belgian midfielder has won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and a Champions League with Manchester City, which likely influenced Rodri’s choice.
Meanwhile, former Arsenal winger Perry Groves has drawn comparisons between Manchester City striker Erling Haaland and the legendary Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of goal-scoring. After Haaland scored his 91st goal in just 100 appearances for Manchester City in a recent 2-0 victory over Chelsea, Groves lauded his impressive goal-scoring record.
Groves noted that Haaland’s numbers are comparable to those of Messi and Ronaldo, and argued that the Premier League’s competitiveness adds to Haaland’s achievement. “It’s frightening. His numbers are on par with Messi and Ronaldo. And to be honest, the Premier League is more competitive than La Liga,” Groves commented on Premier League All Access.
In addition to these comments, there has been buzz around other football-related stories, including Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva naming his idol and comments from Pep Guardiola about Haaland’s performance.
