Super Eagles’ Okoye Shines at Venice Film Festival with Serie A Legends

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye made a notable appearance at the Venice Film Festival on September 2, 2024, for the premiere of “Seydou – il sogno non ha colore.” This documentary focuses on combating racism in sports and features a stellar lineup, including Serie A legends Francesco Totti, Ciro Ferrara, and Bernardo Corradi, alongside players like Paulo Dybala and Yacine Adli.

Produced by Wonder Project in partnership with Rai Cinema and Lega Serie A, the film underscores Serie A’s commitment to its ‘Keep Racism Out’ campaign. It celebrates unity and equality in football, showcasing the role of sports figures in advocating for social change.

Okoye, the only player present at the premiere, praised the project and expressed his enthusiasm for using football’s platform to raise awareness on racism. He highlighted the supportive, multicultural environment at Udinese Calcio and his fascination with cinema.

Lega Serie A President Lorenzo Casini reinforced the league’s dedication to fighting racism and promoting inclusivity, emphasizing the need for continued efforts in education and awareness.
