Super Eagles Resume Training After Resolving Allowance Dispute Ahead of Gabon Clash

The Super Eagles have resumed training ahead of their crucial semi-final clash against Gabon after resolving a disagreement over unpaid allowances.

The development comes just 24 hours after the players boycotted a scheduled training session in Abuja to protest the non-payment of bonuses from their 2025 AFCON qualifiers and 2026 World Cup playoff matches.

The protest had raised concerns among fans about possible disruption to the team’s preparations for Thursday’s encounter.

Although details of the settlement were not disclosed, sources confirmed that discussions between team officials and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) led to a quick resolution of the issue.

Confirming the breakthrough, team captain William Troost-Ekong posted on X (formerly Twitter):

“Issue RESOLVED. We are together and, as before, focused on the games ahead!”

Troost-Ekong also reassured supporters that the team remains united and fully committed to their goal.

Nigeria will face Gabon in the semi-final of the 2026 African World Cup playoffs, with the winner set to play either DR Congo or Cameroon for a place in the intercontinental playoff.

The team’s return to training has eased tensions and restored optimism among fans who feared the allowance row might derail their campaign.
