Tragic Death of Preacher in Ogun: Family Seeks Justice as Investigation Begins

Oluwatosin Onadipe, a graduate of Computer Science from Olabisi Onabanjo University, met an unfortunate end after allegedly being hit with an iron rod by a motor park official in Ago, Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State. Shockingly, his body was subsequently buried by the roadside by officials of the Odogbolu Local Government Area.

According to Oluwatosin’s father, Raymond Onadipe, the tragic incident unfolded when his son left home on December 17 to attend a program at the Redemption Camp. Contact with him was lost after a phone call with his brother. The family reported a missing person case to the Ago Police Station.

Days later, Oluwatosin’s phone was found on the roadside, leading to suspicions about its distant location. The family, along with the police, discovered that a corpse was buried along the roadside by health workers from Odogbolu Local Government Area. The family faced the dilemma of either exhuming the body or leaving it buried.

Alarming disparities in presented pictures and conflicting narratives emerged during the process. Initially deemed a hit-and-run accident by local authorities, the circumstances surrounding Oluwatosin’s death took a different turn when an eyewitness claimed he was hit by a motor park official while preaching on the premises.

Raymond Onadipe pleaded with the police authorities to thoroughly investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice. The state Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alamutu, confirmed the incident and assured that suspects had been taken into custody. A preliminary investigation is underway to unravel the circumstances leading to Oluwatosin’s tragic demise.

“The incident happened. The person alleged to have hit him with an iron rod and the police officers allegedly involved have been taken into custody. We are conducting a preliminary investigation into the reported position of the family. We will come up with a statement on the issue in the next few days,” said CP Abiodun Alamutu.
