Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has rallied Nigeria’s Super Falcons to clinch their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in the upcoming final in Morocco this weekend.
Speaking during the weekly “Prosperity Walk” at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa on Thursday, Diri praised the team’s resilience and determination.
The Super Falcons advanced to their 10th WAFCON final after a 2-1 victory over defending champions South Africa in Tuesday’s semi-final in Casablanca.
The nine-time African champions have faced tough competition, defeating Zambia and South Africa en route to the final—restoring national pride in the team.
Diri lauded the squad’s commitment, describing their semi-final triumph as a testament to their championship spirit.
“They have done it again and again—nine times—and now the media has tagged it ‘Mission X,’” he said, expressing confidence in their ability to extend their record with a 10th title.
The governor assured the team of Bayelsa State’s full support and urged them to remain focused.
“On behalf of our state and the government of Bayelsa, I wish our girls in Morocco the very best and urge them to return with the trophy,” Diri declared.
