EFCC Raids Bureaux De Change Operators In Abuja, Arrest Suspects

Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission raided the offices of black market currency dealers in Abuja on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, arresting an unconfirmed number of suspects.

The raid came as the naira continued its decline against the US dollar, exchanging for as high as N850 to $1.

An eyewitness noted that the arrested suspects were dragged into waiting vehicles, as pedestrians trudged the scene.

Last week the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) announced a redesign of the naira as part of measures to tighten monetary policy.
