Two individuals, Idowu Yahaya and John Balogun, have been apprehended by the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on charges of allegedly raping and sexually abusing two teenage girls.

Idowu Yahaya (39), employed as a private security guard in the Gaa Akanbi locality of Ilorin, is accused of raping a 15-year-old girl within an office situated in the Gaa Akanbi area. John Balogun (49), a teacher at a private school, is facing allegations of raping his 17-year-old step-daughter in the Osere vicinity of Ilorin.

The NSCDC’s State Commandant, Mohammed Umar, urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant. He emphasized the importance of fostering open communication between children and their parents, encouraging children to confide in their parents about issues they may encounter, whether involving strangers, friends, or close relatives.

Umar also advised that children should be familiar with safe and well-traveled routes to and from school and should avoid isolated areas.
