The Kano State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in the case involving the kidnapping and tragic killing of a 14-year-old boy, Abdullahi Sani, from Hotoron Fulani quarter in Kano, with the arrest of a fleeing suspect, Ismail Rabiu, also known as Risi.
Confirming the arrest, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Haruna Abdullahi, issued a statement on Wednesday providing details of the apprehension.
Abdullahi stated, “The Kano State Police Command is pleased to announce a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the heinous kidnapping and murder case that occurred on February 8, 2024, at about 1100 hrs. at Hotoron Fulani Quarters, Kano.”
According to the statement, Ismail Rabiu, believed to be a key accomplice in the crime, was successfully apprehended after thorough investigations and relentless efforts by the command.
He further explained, “You will recall that on 12/02/2024, the prime suspect, Ismail Adamu, aged 22 years old, ‘m’, of Mariri Quarters, in the kidnapping and subsequent tragic murder of one Abdullahi Sani, aged 14 years old, ‘m’, of Hotoron Fulani Quarters Kano, was arrested.”
During the investigation, Ismail Adamu identified Ismail Rabiu as his accomplice in the crime, and both suspects confessed to their involvement. They will face charges in court upon the completion of the investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, reiterated the commitment of the command to safeguarding the lives and property of residents, emphasizing that such criminal activities would not be tolerated, and justice would be served.
The CP expressed gratitude to those who provided information leading to the arrest of the suspects and extended heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.
Abdullahi concluded by appreciating the support, cooperation, and understanding of the people of the state in the fight against crime.
