13-Year-Old Boy Dies in Tragic Drowning Incident at Lagos Beach

Tragedy struck at Alatise beach in the Ajah area of Lagos State as a 13-year-old boy, Kelvin Onyengba, lost his life while swimming during a hangout.

The incident, which occurred around 12:00pm on Tuesday, saw Kelvin drowning while swimming with five of his friends.

According to a police source, the unfortunate event took place on February 27, with Kelvin succumbing to the strong waves of the sea.

“The incident happened yesterday. The mother of the boy said that the wave of the water swept her son. According to her, he went out with five of his friends to swim and hang out, but unfortunately, the boy did not come back to his parents,” the source stated.

Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, mentioned that detectives had visited the scene while the family awaited the recovery of the missing body.

“The scene of the incident was visited by detectives from the division while the family was waiting for the body to emerge from the sea,” Hundeyin said.

This unfortunate incident echoes a similar tragedy involving a Lagos-based prophet, Oriyomi Remilekun, who drowned during a beach hangout in the same Ajah area while celebrating Valentine’s Day.
