Ramadan: KEDCO Introduces Discount Promo, Assures Customers Of Improved Power Supply

By Jabiru Hassan, Kano.

Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has introduced a discount promo of 10% for the duration of the Holy Month of Ramadan, in efforts to ease the economic burden on customers while settling their electricity obligations.

The discount scheme provides 10% discount for non-maximum demand (NMD) post-paid and prepaid customers for vending (and subsequent billing) this month. There are also discounts of 15% and 10% for non-maximum demand (NMD) and maximum demand (MD) customers who are able to pay off their historical outstanding bills.

In a related development, the Managing Director/CEO of KEDCO, Abubakar Yusuf has assured customers of improved power supply during the Holy Month of Ramadan, as engagements are ongoing with relevant stakeholders to improve power allocation to KEDCO franchise.

Abubakar Yusuf gave the assurance in Kano, during a press conference organised to explain the reasons behind the current shortage of power supply.

“The reason why we have been experiencing shortage of power supply lately is as a result of low power generation nationwide, occasioned by gas constraint and consequently low load allocation to us for onward distribution to our customers” he said.

He added that “We do acknowledge how important electricity supply is to our customers, especially in this harsh weather condition, coupled with commencement of Ramadan, that is why we are engaging and collaborating with relevant stakeholders to improve load allocation and power supply to our esteemed customers, especially during this sacred period”.

KEDCO is having discussions with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) as the Dan Agundi repairs are being completed, to seek incremental supply of energy for KEDCO franchise area, he further hinted.

Yusuf also called on the community members to assist the Company in safeguarding power installations within their domains, saying the spate of vandalism is on the increase and it also inhibits our ability to provide uninterrupted power supply to some customers.
