Bayelsa State Local Government Election To Hold 6th April, 2024.

The Bayelsa State independent Electoral Commission(BYSIEC) has said that it will conduct local government election in the state on the 6th April 2024.

The Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Peter Singabele stated this in his remark in a meeting of the electoral body with representatives of all political parties, security agencies and other stakeholders in the conference hall of the commission.

He also released the highlight of the timetable for the local government election.

He disclosed that the commission has already trained it’s staff in preparation for the polls.

According to him, the commission is ready to work in conjunction with the stakeholders to ensure free, fair and credible local government election and solicited for the co-operation of everybody.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the meeting, Singabele noted that the local government election process started in 2022, adding that there was conflict between the Bayelsa State independent Electoral Commission (BYSIEC) and the independent Electoral Commission (INEC) on the conduct of the election. However, the issue has been resolved, hence the election will take place as scheduled.

Chairman and representatives of the various political parties, security agencies and other stakeholders made comments, asked questions and sort for clarification on certain issues and were addressed accordingly.

The leadership of the various political parties urged the electoral body to live up to expectation in the discharge of their duties as promised.

Security agencies including the Nigeria Police also pledged to provide the necessary security during the election process.

In his vote of thanks, the BYSIEC Commissioner in charge of media and publicity, Hon. Chief Osomu Augustus Elliot on behalf of the commission appreciated the leadership of the various political parties, security agencies, the media and other stakeholders for attending the meeting.

The Chairman and representatives of People Democratic party (PDP), Accord Party (AP) All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Labour Party (LP), Social Democratic party (SDP), among others attended the meeting.
