The Minister of State of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT ,Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has condoled the family, friends, and all members of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), over the death of its National President, Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau.
She died in the early hours of today, June 5, 2024, after a brief illness.
The minister in her condolences to the leadership of the National Council of Women Societies said that the death was a huge loss to the women’s fold.
Mahmoud described the late Hajia Lau as a leader who was committed to the peace, unity and progress of Nigerian women, adding that she built her ideas of nationhood on true democratic principles.
The condolence message reads in part, “The death of the president, National Council of Women Societies, Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau,, in submission to the will of Almighty Allah, is indeed shocking.
“The demise of the National President at this critical time of our development is a huge loss to the women fold and one too deep to our First Lady.
“The late women leader was one that was committed to the peace, unity and progress of our women.
“She was a dedicated leader and champion of Women’s Empowerment, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her”, affirming that her tireless efforts and contributions to the betterment of the society would never be forgotten.
The Minister, therefore, commiserates with members of the National Council of Women Societies on this great loss, while noting that her death has also thrown dark clouds over the Council.
She further enjoined all to put her family in prayers at these critical times as she prayed that Allah grant her Aljannah.
