Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 27-year-old man, Umar Adamu Umar of Fagge LGA, Kano State, with 9kg of Cannabis Sativa (Colorado) along the Zaria–Kano road.
The suspect was intercepted on August 6, 2025, while conveying 19 parcels of the illicit drug from Lagos to Kano. NDLEA officials said the seized substance has an estimated street value of over ₦10 million.
According to the agency, Umar had been under surveillance before his arrest and has admitted to his involvement in the drug trade. The NDLEA noted that the seizure dealt a major blow to the syndicate, cutting off revenue and disrupting its supply chain.
The Kano Strategic Command stressed that the removal of the drugs from circulation would help protect communities from the social and economic harms of narcotics.
Area Commander ACGN A.I. Ahmad assured that the command would intensify patrols and intelligence-led operations to prevent illicit substances from entering Kano State.
