JUST IN: Immigration Increases Passport Fees to N100,000 and N200,000

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a new upward review of passport application fees, which will take effect from September 1, 2025.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the Service Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, the new charges apply only to applications filed within Nigeria.

Under the revised rates, a 32-page passport with five-year validity will now cost N100,000, while a 64-page passport with 10-year validity will go for N200,000.

The NIS clarified that the fees for Nigerians abroad remain unchanged at $150 for the 32-page, five-year booklet and $230 for the 64-page, 10-year booklet.

According to the statement, the adjustment is aimed at sustaining the quality and integrity of Nigerian passports while ensuring accessibility for citizens.

This comes barely a year after the Federal Government approved a similar increment in August 2024, which raised the 32-page booklet from N35,000 to N50,000 and the 64-page booklet from N70,000 to N100,000, effective September 1, 2024.

At the time, the Immigration Service said the hike was necessary to improve service delivery and maintain international standards.
