Gov Mutfwang Visits Attacked Communities in Barkin Ladi LGA of Plateau

Governor of , Barr. , has expressed deep sorrow and heartfelt condolences to families and communities affected by the recent attack by gunmen in Dorowa Babuje and Jong communities of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.

During the visit, the Governor, represented by his deputy, Ngo Josephine Chundung Piyo, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to sustaining peace and ensuring that insecurity does not undermine the relative calm currently being experienced across the state.

In a statement signed by Martha Nyam, Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, the Governor said the government is aware of the unfortunate incident and shares in the pain and grief of the bereaved families. He emphasised that his administration remains fair, just, and inclusive, without favouritism to any group, tribe, or religion.

Governor Mutfwang assured residents that security agencies have been directed to intensify investigations, track down the perpetrators, and ensure they are brought to justice. He stressed that acts of violence against innocent citizens will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

He urged youths and residents to remain vigilant and law-abiding, cautioning against reprisals, road blockages, or any actions capable of escalating tensions.

Speaking during the visit, Chairman of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Hon. Stephen Pwajok, commended security agencies for their swift intervention in containing the situation and preventing further escalation.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Non-Governmental Organizations, Hon. Abubakar Kanam, called on residents to embrace peace, unity, and cooperation with government efforts aimed at restoring stability.

The Gwom Rwei of Barkin Ladi, Da Edward Bot, described the incident as a setback to the development and stability of the area and appealed to residents to embrace dialogue and peaceful coexistence.

Similarly, the Chairman of the (CAN), Barkin Ladi LGA chapter, Rev. Samson Dido, emphasised religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence as essential for community development.

At Jong community, the Chairman of the (MACBAN), Alhaji Tambari Gizo, appreciated the government for identifying with the people in their time of grief and urged residents to pursue peace and reconciliation.

Accompanying the Governor on the visit were the Coordinator of Operation Rainbow, Gen. Gakji Shipi (Rtd); the Executive Secretary of the Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board, Alhaji Daiyabu Dauda; and other senior government officials.
