2027: Group Endorses Agabi for Nasarawa Assembly Seat

A retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mailafiya Yakubu Agabi, has accepted calls to contest the Nasarawa State House of Assembly seat for Obi I Constituency ahead of the 2027 elections.

Agabi made the declaration on Monday at the Emir’s palace in Daddare Development Area of Obi Local Government Area, where he was received by a large crowd of supporters, community leaders and traditional rulers. His decision followed sustained pressure from the Daddare Progressive Minded Youth, who had urged him to join the race, citing his experience and record in public service.

Addressing supporters, Agabi said he had listened to the yearnings of the people and was ready to represent them at the state legislature.“I have heard your call, and I am ready to represent you at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly,” he said.

He urged his supporters to maintain peace throughout the political process and avoid any form of confrontation. “Let us remain peaceful and engage people constructively, using evidence of what we have done for our people over the years,” he said.

Agabi noted that his years of service and contributions to society would speak for his capacity rather than political rhetoric. “My work will prove my capacity, not noise. I have paid my dues as an ambassador of peace in this state and will remain steadfast in continuing my good work,” he added. He also stressed that his commitment to service goes beyond politics, describing his life as one dedicated to humanity.

Earlier, the President of the Daddare Progressive Minded Youth, Comrade Aminu Musa Relwanu, said the group’s endorsement followed consultations across the constituency.According to him, the decision reflects the collective desire of the people for credible and people-oriented representation in Obi I Constituency.
