Gana’s killing: Benue Govt won’t pay N50m bounty to Nigerian Army – Gov Ortom

From Isaac Kertyo Makurdi    Benue State Government says it won’t pay the N50m bounty it placed for whoever that will kill the fomer militia leader Terwase Akwaza aka Gana, explaining that the military personnel didn’t arrest him from his hiding place.     Governor Samuel Ortom who made this clarification  while briefing Journalists shortly after the state executive council meeting held at the government house, Makurdi noted that “the military personnel intercepted the aforementioned gang leader who had already surrendered arms and was on his way to Makurdi to embrace amnesty when he was ambushed and taken away by the soldiers”.    Ortom who spoke through the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs Ngunan Adingi said he wondered why such a demand is coming from the military, insisting that they can’t claim any bounty from the Benue State Government.    This has put paid to the rumors that the Benue State Government was planning to pay the bounty to the Nigerian Army for being responsible for Gana’s killing.    It could be recalled that the military demanded for the payment of the bounty from Benue State Government shortly after Gana was murdered.
