Raul Jimenez suffered a fractured skull against Arsenal on Sunday night but is ‘comfortable’ in hospital after undergoing an operation, Wolves have confirmed.
The Mexican striker was rushed to hospital after a sickening collision with Gunners centre-back David Luiz in the opening minutes of Wolves’ 2-1 win at the Emirates.
He required more than 10 minutes of treatment on the pitch after colliding with the Brazilian defender at the front post from an Arsenal corner.
Both sets of medical staff rushed to attend to the forward, who required oxygen and a neck brace as he was taken off the pitch.
Wolves thanks Arsenal’s medical staff for their additional support as well as NHS staff as Jimenez continues to recover in hospital.
A statement read: ‘Raul is comfortable following an operation last night, which he underwent in a London hospital.
‘He has since seen his partner Daniela and is now resting. He will remain under observation for a few days while he begins his recovery.
‘The club would like to thank the medical staff at Arsenal, the NHS paramedics, hospital staff and surgeons who, through their skill and early response, were of such help.
‘The club ask that Raul and his family are now afforded a period of space and privacy, before any further updates are provided in due course.
’ In Jimenez’s absence, goals from Daniel Podence and Pedro Neto secured a 2-1 win for the away side. Follow Metro Sport across our social channels, on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
