New Yam Festival: Agency Boss Tasks Farmers On Food Security In Nigeria

By Noah Ocheni,  Lokoja

The General Manager of Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency, Momoh Dauda has called on farmers across the country to complement government’s efforts in ensuring food security for all Nigerians.

Dauda who made the call during the celebration of Ogale Idi Oro new yam festival  in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi Statel maintained that time has come for farmers to key into commercial agriculture for massive food production.

He said the only option to overcome the dwindling nation’s economy is to diversify to agriculture inview of the prevailing sharp fall in the price of Crude Oil at the international market.

According to him “Agriculture is capable of providing employment for our teeming youths as well as boosting commercial activities in Communities across the country”

Chief Momoh Dauda said that the honour bestowed on him will no doubt serve as an inspiring spirit for him to do more for the community with an  assurance that he would give the needed support towards the development of Ogale Community market, school and drainages to prevent reoccurrence of flooding in the area.

He however, reminded the community not to relent in their spirit of embarking on self-help projects as government alone cannot provide the people with all the needed basic infrastructures such as roads, food, education, potable water and electricity supply among others.

The General Manager was honoured with a Chieftaincy title of Adetuluse of Ogale Land by the Traditional Ruler of the Community, Oba Otitoju Kolajo, for his agency support in the development of  the area.

He promised that his administration will live up to its responsibility in providing democracy dividends to the people of Ijumu Local Governmet Area so as to improve upon their living standard.

The Paramount Ruler of Ogale Idi Oro Community, Oba Otitoju Kolajo in his speech, said that the Chieftaincy titles conferred on the recipients were based on their track records of support  towards rural development.
