Abia Warriors’ John Obuh Confident in More Super Eagles Call-Ups

By   Milcah   Tanimu

Abia Warriors chairman John Obuh is optimistic that more players from his club will receive Super Eagles invitations. This confidence follows the recent call-up of Abia Warriors’ midfielder Innocent Godwin to the senior national team for the African Nations Championship qualifiers against Ghana.

Obuh praised the team for their 1-0 Nigeria Premier Football League victory over Bendel Insurance in Benin-City. This marked their first away win of the season. He credited the technical crew, led by former Olympic Eagles coach Imama Amapakabo, for turning the team around after a rough start.

“Our players have been performing exceptionally well,” Obuh noted. “I’m pleased with Innocent Godwin’s Super Eagles call-up, and I believe more players will join him on the national team soon.”

The victory pushed Abia Warriors, known as the Umu Chineke, to fifth in the NPFL standings. They will host Heartland in an Oriental derby this weekend in Umuahia.
