FIFA Rankings: Nigeria Rises to 43rd Globally, Argentina Retains Top Spot

Nigeria has moved up one place to 43rd in the latest FIFA rankings, as announced by the world football governing body on Thursday.

The Super Eagles, who ended 2024 in 44th place, made the slight improvement following their recent performances, including a home victory against Rwanda in the ongoing World Cup qualifiers.

Argentina remains at the top of the rankings, thanks to a series of impressive wins. Spain holds second place, while France sits in third. England is ranked fourth, with Brazil completing the top five.

Nigeria’s climb in the rankings comes as they continue their quest to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.
